Aristotelis Vasilakos, “Aris” for my friends,
born in Athens, greece 3 December 1972.I live in Brescia, Italy for the last 15 years and I own a multimedia company named Eyemedia. Creative director and a graphic artist for a living.
Married with my dear wife Dafni and our 2 years old son, Achille.

The nick name Flying Pig was given to me by my friends at the italian simracing team Muratori Bergamaschi Racing Team, (Bergamo call Brescia football fans "pigs"...)a famous team of amazing performances... not quite on the racing tracks, but more on their ability to provide wine and italian food in incredible quantities at any time!
So Flying Pig be it, also because of my performances they say, and always in english because "you don't speak decent Italian anyway!"... yeah they are my friends :P
Anyway, for all of you curious enough, here is my short online simracing history.

2000

  • Online career start with GPL
  • Negative GPL rank in 2 weeks

2001

  • Joined CIGPL2001 (italian GPL championship) as part of SolidF1Racing.
  • From the last group, I climbed up to 1st division. Rookie of the year CIGPL2001,
  • SolidF1Racing team champions
  • Matteo Calestani leader of team pilot champion
  • Best result at monza 3rd place, with qualifying time 1:26:6x
  • Webdesign of cigpl2001 website
  • First ever radio cast of italian races live.
  • Entering organization team and judging divisions.

2002

  • Entering prequalifying of CIGPL2002 First place in my division.
  • Quiting CIGPL2002 and enter the innovative CTStar league based on Nascar4 racing on road circuits.
  • CTstar Champion.
  • Invited on "Race of the italian champions" 80 laps on silverstone with GPL's honda amidst the best italian drivers. Pole position, fastest lap in the race and 2nd place a couple of tenths behind top driver Leonardo Grandis.
  • Joining the staff of DrivingItalia.com and beta testing for the first netKar free simulator

2003

  • Entering 2nd edition of CTStar
  • Apex team foundation together with Gianluca “Amon” Cartosso
  • 2nd place at CTStar 2nd edition
  • Team Apex 2nd place CTStar 2nd edition
  • N.1o worldwide rank Nascar2002 on GPL road tracks
  • Various WR on GPL road tracks with Nascar 2002
  • Continued beta testing and physics consulting for netKar
  • Entering beta testing team for simbin's GTR sim.
  • Graphic design of the actual Drivingitalia.net website.
  • DI.net forum administrator
  • Together with Luca Casarotto(schummy1) we create VirtuaSprint. One of the first web pdf magazines of the net.

2004

  • GTR is released, containing default setups made by me, that are made to aid less experienced drivers. GTR also contains replays of my laps for referencing real life lap times.
  • Continuation of my collaboration with kunos, this time on netKarPRO..
  • Entering beta testing team of GTLegends
  • Entering CIN oval racing league. Mixed results, best result victory at Las Vegas 2nd division and victory at Daytona best drivers race.
  • I'm taking part of CIN races' real time Videocasts. First time ever worldwide.
  • Writing for CIN magazine
  • Quiting CIN league because of free time limitations.

2005

  • Quiting staff di DI.net
  • Entering Masters of GTR (MoGTR) of filsca, class nGT. Good races and victories. While in first place in the league tables, I had to quit because of internet connection problems in my new home.
  • Entering funleague various races.
  • Quiting staff of netKarPRO (personal reasons).
  • Moderator and responsible for the setup theory section at Slipangle.it forum
  • Helping funleague7 with GTL league organization
  • Entering funleague7 GTL league.
  • Pole position and "fairplay award" on “One race for history” race made with GTR under the organization of TeamT7 and filsca.
  • Continued my collaboration with various mod teams, new sims and peripheral products.
  • Tired of the continuous flames of the italian scene forums, I abbandoned public generic simracing forums to better focus on my new projects.
  • Flyingpig blog and Pedia is born.

2006

  • Funleague7 GTL league champion in the colors of RSCMotorsport team.
  • Various GTLegends World Records.
  • Some graphics creation for Simleague launch (old funleague site)
  • Entering RSC Motorsports team
  • Radiocasts live of MeganeTrophy league by Simleague
  • Some short term collaborations with AutoSimSport
  • Some consulting for kunos's netKar PRO before release date.
  • Joined and actively collaborated on the creation of the first Simracing Driving School ,created by Franco Miniati. SIM-MIN driving school
  • Responsible for theoretical lessons of SIM-MIN driving school , specifically practical exercises and lessons' setups.
  • New FlyingPigPedia is born on wetpaint platform!
  • AutoSimSport article collaboration
  • New season of SIM-MIN driving school theoretical and practical lessons (race behavior)


As for real racing, I continue enjoying my car on various trackdays!

I met Aris many years ago when his wife was my co-student.And although they were living in Italy and i was in Greece, we kept in touch.Last summer they visited my home town and Aris gave me two ¨hot¨ laps at the local track.This was my introduction (in the hard way) to the tracks and a great experience, so i must say : thank you Ari,go on and we will follow!
